How-To Connect a Printer 🖨️
This page will guide you through the process of setting up and connecting to one of the two shared printers here at the IHC office space. This printer is easily accessible once connected to the IHC office space network, either wired in or connected wirelessly via eduroam or umd-guest. Both printers are multi-functional printers capable printing color, B/W pages, scanning, and copying. IHC-CPS1 is located near the Kitchen and IHC-CPS2 is located in the large, internal lab space. At the bottom of this page there is a diagram where each is located, noted by a Red Star.
You will need to disconnect from any VPN session before you proceed.
Instructions for macOS devices
Open the System Settings
In the sidebar, choose the Printers & Scanners
option
Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax.. button
In the pop-up window, choose the IP
tab
In the Address field, type: IHC-CPS1 or IHC-CPS2
In the Protocol dropdown, choose AirPrint
It should look like thisLastly, click the Add button, this may take a minute or two.
The printer has been successfully connected!
You may need to disconnect from any VPN services to be able to use the printer at any given time.
Instructions for Windows devices
Open Settings
In the sidebar, choose the Bluetooth & devices
option
Choose the Printers & scanners
option
Click the Add device button
If the
ihc-cps1 (HP Color LaserJet MFP 5800) comes up
Click the Add device button next to it, this may take a minute or two to install
The printer has been successfully connected!
If The printer that I want isn’t listed comes up
Click the Add manually option next to it
Choose the Add a printer using an IP address or hostname option, click the Next button
In the Device type dropdown, choose IPP Device
In the Hostname or IP address field, type: IHC-CPS1 or IHC-CPS2
Lastly, click the Next button, this may take a minute or two
The printer has been successfully connected!
