How-To Connect a Printer 🖨️

This page will guide you through the process of setting up and connecting to one of the two shared printers here at the IHC office space. This printer is easily accessible once connected to the IHC office space network, either wired in or connected wirelessly via eduroam or umd-guest. Both printers are multi-functional printers capable printing color, B/W pages, scanning, and copying. IHC-CPS1 is located near the Kitchen and IHC-CPS2 is located in the large, internal lab space. At the bottom of this page there is a diagram where each is located, noted by a Red Star.

You will need to disconnect from any VPN session before you proceed.

  1. Open the System Settings System_settings_icon.png

  2. In the sidebar, choose the Printers & Scanners 171528_print_icon.png option

  3. Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax.. button

  4. In the pop-up window, choose the IP 4213462_communication_global_internet_network_web_icon.png tab

  5. In the Address field, type: IHC-CPS1 or IHC-CPS2

  6. In the Protocol dropdown, choose AirPrint

    It should look like this
  7. Lastly, click the Add button, this may take a minute or two.

  8. The printer has been successfully connected!

You may need to disconnect from any VPN services to be able to use the printer at any given time.

  1. Open Settings icons8-settings-48.png

  2. In the sidebar, choose the Bluetooth & devicesicons8-bluetooth-48.pngoption

  3. Choose the Printers & scanners icons8-printer-48.png option

  4. Click the Add device button

  5. If the icon-printer.png ihc-cps1 (HP Color LaserJet MFP 5800) comes up

    1. Click the Add device button next to it, this may take a minute or two to install

    2. The printer has been successfully connected!

  6. If The printer that I want isn’t listed comes up

    1. Click the Add manually option next to it

    2. Choose the Add a printer using an IP address or hostname option, click the Next button

    3. In the Device type dropdown, choose IPP Device

    4. In the Hostname or IP address field, type: IHC-CPS1 or IHC-CPS2

  1. Lastly, click the Next button, this may take a minute or two

  2. The printer has been successfully connected!
